Sita Kugel, PhD
Dr. Kugel studies how dysregulated chromatin-modifying enzymes drive hepatopancreatic biliary cancers — and whether those same pathways can be turned into treatment targets.
Overview
Sita Kugel, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Human Biology Division at Fred Hutch, where she serves as Director of Basic and Translational Research in GI Oncology and Co-director of the Pancreatic Cancer program.
Research
The central theme of her group is how the dysregulation of chromatin-modifying enzymes contributes to hepatopancreatic biliary cancers, and whether those pathways present liabilities that can be exploited therapeutically. She is particularly interested in the biology of different transcriptional and genetic subtypes of pancreatic cancer and cholangiocarcinoma — how the epigenome determines subtype, and what unifying characteristics define them.
Nine physicians, researchers and staff who decide what Sky funds.
