Histological and transcriptional characterization of organotropism in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, with focus on the "lung only" metastatic variant
Pancreatic cancer does not spread at random — it shows organotropism, a tendency to seed particular organs. This project characterises that behavior histologically and transcriptionally, with particular attention to the distinct subset of patients whose disease metastasises to the lung and nowhere else.
Dr. Miller-Phillips is a clinically practising medical doctor and researcher focused on GI oncology. Her recent work includes translational research on predictive and prognostic biomarkers in the treatment of gastrointestinal tumors, exploring gene mutations within the EGFR-signalling pathway and finding biomarkers to predict the efficacy of EGFR antibody therapy. Her goal is to help advance precision medicine for cancer treatment.
Seed grants start at $50,000 — awarded by scientists, reported on annually.
